Why do people hate ecw

Why do so many people hate the fact that ECW used to be around? I asked myself, what is this?

It looks like some cheap budget indy wrestling. I decided to take a chance and what I saw was purely amazing. I loved it, these guys were taking it to the limit, it was honestly the most talented wrestling I had ever seen. The cruiserweights and how they would move around the ring, the technicality of the bigger men who could move and put on a show and of course the hardcore side of things, men taking punishment like no other.

ECW amazed me and the fans were the most fucking loyal fan base I had ever heard and seen on the television. As a wrestler for ECW, you knew the fans always had your back and would defend you to the bone. After reading all the comments about how ECW was "garbage wrestling" or "pathetic" or blah blah blah, I really wanted to puke. I guess people just can't see amazing when it is there. In your opinion, what did you think? Joined: Feb 17, Messages: Likes Received: ECW was awesome man pure entertainment, high octane matches, edgy promos it was basically most of the things people praise the attitude era for on steroids.

I think because its viewed as 'extreme', people who see themselves as wrestling purists, they type who watch ROH etc seem to look down upon it slightly. Apparently forgetting that some of the best technical wrestlers in the business like Malenko, Mysterio, Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit for example came from there and put on some of the best technical wrestling matches certainly i've ever seen Eddies last match against Malenko is a personal favourite. They were also the first to really exploit the South American and Japanese markets bringing over an array of talented international superstars who then mostly moved to WCW and made their cruiserweight division so great.

Thir programming was was so daring and creative enabling superstars to push boundaries which had never really been pushed before and probably even helping to inspire the attitude era in WWE. It wasn't just controvesy for the sake of it either some of the stuff Austin did in ECW was almost on the level of Stone Cold in his peak in WWE in quality for example, a lot of the promos segments and stuff were probably better than the WWEs today.

It's the same reason some people like the Rock comparing people to food and talking about shoving things up their butts and some people don't. Certainly not enough to warrant a thread. ECW was a rinky dink 2-bit promotion, that has been blown WAY out of proportion, both in terms of how relevant it really was and how good it was.

ECW was crap. It was poorly run, poorly booked and featured poor talent. It didn't appeal to wrestling fans, it appealed to people whose mental stability I seriously question.

Anyone who thinks wrestling is about falling off of high things and hitting each other in the head with trash cans is an idiot. Yes, what about them? They were there for a cup of coffee, and got the hell out as soon as they found another promotion who could actually offer them a decent job.

ECW was garbage, and it amazes me that people can still think otherwise. Blue Chipper and Pedigree1 like this. Joined: Feb 9, Messages: Likes Received: Aquaman Mid-Card Championship Winner.

They had a decent number of guys who went on to have good careers in WCW and WWE, mostly guys who had cups of coffee before jumping to the big promotions, but most of the guys who worked there hid their lack of talent with overbooking.

Only Vince knows, and I doubt the rest of us will ever find out. Eventually, the ECW brand would become somewhat of a prototype for NXT as we know it today, and while it managed to elevate a handful of stars, will always be remembered as a missed opportunity. Instead, with a Paul Heyman heel turn, Big Show as a champion, and a live crowd visibly hating a new product only four shows in, it was the trigger for its demise.

Vince proved, once and for all, that he never cared about ECW other than what it could do for him. Subject to change without notice. Sign in. Password recovery.

Roj Naylor. November 9, Most Popular. He was never afraid of going over the top and often too far and has been involved in some of the most violent bouts in wrestling history. He was hated by fans and wrestlers alike, as his presence gave off a constant uneasy feeling because no one ever knew how violent he was going to get. His induction into the WWE Hall of Fame caused a stir, as many viewed him as nothing more than a gore specialist.

While Snuka may have debuted as a fan-favorite for the previously named Eastern Championship Wrestling, he soon became hated when the company changed its approach into a more extreme one. The fan's hatred of Snuka proves that they did not care about former WWF stars. With his legacy in the industry, Snuka represented a classic brand of wrestling that the ECW fans loathed, and they always let him know it. Corino's role was originally supposed to be nothing more than a manager of only heels wrestlers before he also began wrestling as well.

He arguably loved to be hated more than any competitor in wrestling history. He would do anything to get under the fan's skin, including changing his style of wrestling from extreme to passive when it benefited his heel persona.

While the WWE may not have signed him to a contract following the folding of ECW, he has found success as a producer and trainer with the company in recent years. While he may not have been the most physically imposing competitor, Raven was certainly one of the toughest and most calculating.

He was responsible for one of the most controversial moments in wrestling history when he "crucified" The Sandman in front of a shocked audience. He is widely considered to be one of the most psychological heels in wrestling history. Devon and his kayfabe brother Bubba Ray were as good at antagonizing an audience as anyone in wrestling history. Likewise, their promos are some of the most heated in the company's' history. It was in ECW that some of their best heel work was on display, insulting the fans whenever given the opportunity to do so.

Security was sure to be on hand if The Dudley 's were on the card for an event, as they would often have to escort fans out of the stadium due to the two wrestler's ability to strike a chord.
