And also not sure about higher EGO weapons for lower EGO players, but even if they are too high for him, he can hold on to them til he's the right level. Weapons with ego ratings above your friends he wont be able to use until he attains that ego rating.

Also make sure that the weapons you wish to trade are tradeable too. Not all are. Some weapons dont drop for people below certain ego threshholds. Also stats on weapons get better and worse then better again at different ego ratings in the later levels.
